Releases a New CD!
“Give Us a Song” is the third full-length recording from Dean and his second since moving to Indiana from Georgia in 2005. It contains an acoustic blend of folk, gospel and Americana. The disc includes original music from Dean as well as original acoustic arrangements of traditional hymns and gospel music. A featured track on the new disc is the witty and profound “My Dog Jesus,” written by Nashville songwriter C. J. Watson with Kurt Fortmeyer and Al DeTrolio.
Dean returns to his acoustic singer-songwriter roots on “Give Us a Song” with songs from Jonathan Edwards, Kate Wolf, Paul Simon and Bob Dylan. Being as much a refinisher of old songs as a creator of new music, he has also included fresh acoustic arrangements of traditional hymns and gospel music.
Although much of the CD contains songs from or about the Christian faith, not all of the music is explicitly Christian. The songs he writes and records are about people, life and faith. They may not all be Christian songs, but they are all songs offered by a Christian. Dean Phelps appears regularly at coffee shops and churches around central Indiana.
